A Welcome Message and Open Letter From Mercer Reynolds III
Chairman of The Board of Directors
July 9, 2007-- Hello, my name is Mercer Reynolds, Chairman of the Board of Directors
of the Reynolds Foundation. We are pleased to have this opportunity to
share with you a little about the Foundation and the exciting new initiatives
that the Reynolds Foundation is undertaking in 2007. The Reynolds Foundation
is based in Greensboro, Georgia—a small town located in Greene County approximately
one hour away from metropolitan Atlanta. Being a part of this community
over the years has allowed our family to realize our dreams. However, with
success comes responsibility, but also opportunity—the opportunity to make
a difference. As a result, in 2002 our family formed the Reynolds Foundation. |

The Foundation started with meager beginnings, essentially as a one-person
operation. Nonetheless, the Foundation to date has been able to contribute
over $600,000 to the community in the form of grants and scholarships here
in Greene county, but also in the surrounding counties of Putnam and Morgan.
Two years ago, we launched a strategic planning process, diligently exploring
the needs of the community and formulating a plan to effectively and efficiently
enhance the Foundation’s involvement in this community. The culmination
of those efforts is being realized today through a bold new series of strategic
programs and initiatives. Our strategy is to avoid duplication of services;
address identified needs within the community; and maximize all available
resources—not only monetary, but also resources of time and expertise.
Our goal is simple—to touch individuals and dramatically impact the lives
of the people within this community in a positive way.
We do not have delusions of grandeur. We do not think we can save the world.
But we do think we have the responsibility and opportunity to make a difference—a
dramatic difference, in the lives of individuals. We here at Reynolds believe
we can and should take a leadership role in our community. However, no
community can bring forth change without the support of the members of
that community on all levels. So I ask you to join us in making a difference
and helping make life as it ought to be for all members of our community.
